I have been tagged my dear friend Nash- he says that you have to list 8 things that are about you or something - random? crazy?? things that people don't know about you - that's hard because most things that people know about me are random and crazy...
1. When I was little I wanted to be an air hostess. My friend Doris and I wrote a letter to the universe and pledged our allegiance to the world of air hostessing. We buried this pledge in my backyard where the idea stayed.
2. I thought that going to church was boring. I used to stare at the clock and pray that the hour would end quickly. Our priest caught me yawning and gave me the death stare. It didn't stop me from yawning and his death stares mellowed over time. Little did I know that many things in my life would bore me to tears and staring at clocks is my weakness.
3. I have a knack for the dramatic. I can break into a sweat over the most stupid things (they are too numerous to mention). Under pressure I can turn into a robot like super hero and create an atmosphere of calm that even I thought was impossible.
4. I love watching T.V. I know this must come as a shock to most people but its true. I can watch Extreme Makeover with the same interest as a documentary on the inner workings of the brain.
5. I eat exactly the same thing each day for breakfast (cereal with soy milk and nice coffee). It gives me great pleasure when I make it because I am the first one up and the house is quiet. I feel great comfort that Woody Allen also shares this ritual with me (he prefers cheerios with 7 slices of banana on top).
6. I daydream. I can drive from one place to another and not remember how I got there.
7. I love stationery. Not just the printed, delicate stuff. Anything that is filed under that category. I can go through Officeworks and just marvel at the amount of notepads there are to cater for any activity. The other day I stayed in there for close to an hour and forgot that the rest of my family was in the car wondering what the hell was going on.
8. I thought that I would think differently about things when I got older but that hasn't happened. There's a lot to be said for consistency.
Sheila.

I, too love being up before the rest of my family... I wake up let the dog out and then visit my friend's blogs....
What a shining light you bring into my world Sheila. I can't believe there are so many things you've just written about that I was completely oblivious to. I wonder if you knew I have a thing about stationery too? We must hang out together at Officeworks sometime...
Thanks for joining in the spirit of the meme
I love nice stationary also. People should use it more...
Hi Sheila,
Alright! You joined our group of “tagees”! This is a marvelous post and while it’s revealing, you’re still left a “cloud of mystery” as to the real Sheila. I should talk….
What? No Vegemite for breakfast, lunch and dinner? I thought it was the national food product of Australia.
Ironic; I wanted to be an airline hostess (stewardess’ is what they were called when I had my eye on the job) at one time, as well. However, I’d never been in an airplane and some wise person suggested I take a short flight before I apply for a position. After a white knuckle 30-minute hop to San Francisco, I chucked any notions of making that my career. To your knowledge, is your pledge still buried in the backyard?
I’m an obsessive clock watcher too. There are numerous clocks (on walls, shelves and furniture) in every single room of my house. If I go to someone’s house and can’t see a clock, I get exceedingly antsy and start looking at my wristwatch every few seconds. It’s not so much that I’ve got somewhere to go or something pressing to do; I just feel I need to know what time it is constantly. I wonder if there’s a name for this syndrome…other than “obsessive compulsive clock watching”.
I agree with “brechi” that people ought to use stationary more often. Fine pens and writing paper seem to have taken a back seat to computer generated e-mails. I enjoy receiving a thank you note on a lovely ecru card much more than a few lines across the screen. Are you into “Post-it’s©”? I’ve got little sticky pads all over the place.
Don’t you think that somewhere in the recesses of your brain you realize that there’s a time and place for the dramatic and when it’s truly necessary for the “adult” to step in and take charge of the situation? The histrionics are fine for some situations but they’re emotionally draining and usually don’t accomplish anything in the long run.
“I thought that I would think differently about things when I got older but that hasn't happened. There's a lot to be said for consistency.” That’s what keeps us balanced and sane; knowing exactly how we feel about certain things and people and realizing that it’s always going to be that way. Vacillating about certain critical beliefs doesn’t help anyone, least of all ourselves.
Hi Pendullum, what a breakfast you have!
Dear Nash, I'm not surprised that you have a thing for stationery. I wonder why we've never talked about it? We must go through Officeworks together and see what happens - be warned it may take a while!
Hi Brechi, I went to your website and saw all these photos of you and wondered whether you were worried about stalkers (your openness about your identity was refreshing). Anyway my favorite photos were the ones from the museum - it makes me want to go to ours today and run a-muck!
Dear Miss Litzi,
You are so considerate with your comments. The attention to detail is truly amazing.
You know I never use post-its. I have lots of notes and things around the place that get lost and I find it infuriating. Then were would I be without a bit of frustration in my life. Speaking of needing the dramatic, it is a compulsion that I don't really have a handle on. I think I need to sit down and have a cup of tea (in a Chinese restaurant ofcourse) and talk it through with you.
I find it hilarious to picture you at a friend's house looking over your shoulder at some clock they have ticking away. You make me laugh and laugh...
Hi Sheila,
My friend’s don’t laugh when I’m craning my neck to watch the clock, believe me! And if we’re in a room without one (who ever heard of anything so ridiculous?) I start behaving like a junkie needing a fix.
I’m great on making grocery lists, which I follow meticulously. However, sometimes I’ll leave one in my purse or pocket and the following week start using the old list until I realize some of the things seem vaguely familiar. Don’t be too hard on yourself for making notes and things and then losing them…we’ve all got too many things going on and too much on our minds. There comes a point when it all gets overpowering and we’ve got to step back and laugh about it or go round the bend.
My 84-year old mother is the epitome of a “drama queen”, so I learned from a real pro how to act up and out at almost any situation life throws at me. I try very hard to curb my histrionics but it’s not easy to do. I’d really like to sit down and have a nice long chat with you…we could watch the clocks tick tock away, make lists of things to do and have hissy fits about whatever strikes our fancy.
#6 is kind of scary! But I have to confess I do that as well.
